A Refined Southern Wedding

Some wedding days go exactly as planned. And then there are the ones that throw everything at you and somehow end up being even more beautiful because of it. Annamari Farrar and Connor England’s wedding day at The Ida Grey in Ruston, Louisiana was the latter, and we wouldn’t have had it any other way.

The Day the Rain Knew Better

The forecast leading up to Annamari and Connor’s wedding day was about as ominous as it gets. Rain. All day. The kind of forecast that sends wedding planners into overdrive and makes couples nervous no matter how prepared they are. But here’s what we’ve learned after shooting weddings for as long as we have: the ones that have something to overcome almost always become the ones worth telling.

The rain held off. Through the ceremony, through portraits, through every single moment that mattered, the sky cooperated. The day unfolded exactly as it was meant to. And when the rain finally did arrive, it rolled in during the reception, drumming softly against the tent while everyone was already inside, dancing, celebrating, and completely lost in the night. Honestly, it felt like the perfect ending.

The Vision Behind Every Detail

This was not a wedding where anything was left to chance. Annamari and Connor came into this day with a vision that was bold, layered, and completely their own, and the team around them executed it to perfection.

The brilliant @hannahlamb of Hannah Lamb Events was the driving force behind the day’s flow and design. If you’ve ever wondered what it looks like when a planner is truly in her element, this was it. Every moment transitioned into the next with an ease that only comes from meticulous planning and a deep understanding of what a couple actually wants. Hannah is the kind of planner who doesn’t just manage a wedding; she protects the experience of it. For any couple dreaming of a day that feels this intentional, she is the person you call.

The Tent That Stopped Everyone in Their Tracks

Let’s talk about this tent. Provided by @pelicantentsandevents, the reception space was nothing short of spectacular. It wasn’t just a tent; it was an entire world that Annamari and Connor built for the people they love most.

And then there were the florals. @tanyapauldesign poured herself into this space in a way that we are still thinking about. Lush, abundant, unapologetic in their scale and beauty, the kind of floral work that makes you stop mid-conversation just to take it all in. Every arrangement felt intentional, and every corner of that tent told a story. This is what it looks like when a couple invests in their vision without compromise.

A Living, Breathing Work of Art

One of our favorite touches of the entire day was the presence of @torregrossafineart, a live painter capturing the celebration on canvas in real time. There is something uniquely powerful about having an artist in the room; it reminds everyone that what is happening right now is worth preserving in more ways than one. Watching the painting come to life throughout the evening was one of those details that guests kept gravitating back to, and it gave the whole night an energy that was creative, alive, and entirely unforgettable.

The Moments We Live For

As a husband and wife photography and film team, we show up to every wedding as two people who genuinely love what we do. Brian has a way of seeing the moment before it happens, the look exchanged across a room, the hand quietly held during a speech, the tear that almost wasn’t caught. Jayce brings an energy to portraits that makes every couple feel like themselves, fully seen and completely at ease. Together, we don’t miss a thing.

Annamari and Connor gave us so much to work with. They were present, they were joyful, and they celebrated without holding anything back. That kind of energy makes our job feel less like work and more like the privilege it truly is.

Ruston, We’ll Be Back

The Ida Grey is a venue that deserves to be talked about. Set in Ruston, Louisiana, it has a character and warmth that provides the most beautiful backdrop for a wedding day that wants to feel both elevated and personal. Pair that with a team of vendors who are all operating at the very top of their craft and you get a day like this one where everything came together not just as planned, but better.

Annamari and Connor, thank you for letting us be there for all of it. The rain, the florals, the dancing, the painting, the love. We are so proud to have these images and this film as a part of our work.
